Mr Violin History
The Early Years
Adam Ainsworth started playing the violin at 8 years old in his elementary school orchestra and it has been his passion ever since. At age 16, Adam was blessed with an opportunity to open for The Beach Boys by playing in the orchestra at The World Scholar Athlete Games at the University of Rhode Island in 1997. 16,000 people from all walks of life were in attendance and 4 TV stations were broadcasting live throughout the East Coast at this mega event sponsored by Disney. Adam's main musical influence at the time was Carolyn Sechrist, a legendary orchestra teacher and cello player. Adam took his first years of private lessons under a local legend, Ethel Lange. During high school, Adam took master classes offered by Sherry Kloss, the famed protege of the classical master, Jascha Heifetz.
Training in the Craft
Adam enrolled at the University of California at San Diego, Revelle College (UCSD) and played 1st violin in the San Diego Young Artist Symphony. He was mentored by Paivikki Nykter, a Finnish concert violinist, and her husband Janos Negyesy, who knew composer John Cage. He received training in guitar and piano, and was also granted school training as a baritone opera singer. He tutored for The Preuss School orchestra, played violin in the La Jolla Symphony and graduated with department honors. Adam holds a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Honors Violin Performance with a Revelle College specialized area of focus in Teacher Education, Accounting and Business Law.
Learning the Ropes
Adam took a job as a bookkeeper at a local music store, learning the ropes of the music industry business. The company merged into another music store company and Adam became a successful sales associate. A year later Adam took a job as a store manager at a local violin shop in San Diego and continued his customer service excellence there for over 3 years, learning everything he could about the violin family of instruments: their history, the way they are built, the way they are properly repaired and how to appraise them comfortably up to $20,000 and above.
Climbing the Ladder
During this time of developing violin specific business skills, Adam refined his teaching and playing skills. He was mentored by Alexander Palamidis; a natural engineer and Principal Member in the San Diego Symphony; on the principles of: technique, sound quality, and the quantifiable differences between instruments and bows. Adam was also inspired with the wise words of Julia Verba, the protege of the Russian violin pedagogue David Oistrah. Adam also met his violin idol, the fabled "Fiddler", Alex DePue.
Adam played and sat in with a wide array of groups and genres. Besides classical music, Adam has played: rock, blues, gypsy, belly-dance, fiddle, Celtic, rockabilly, reggae, country, folklorico, world, contemporary, and lots of jazz and swing music.

Follow Your Dreams by Investing in Yourself
Adam first started as a Chemical Engineering student at UC San Diego before doubling his major in Philosophy and Psychology, when he made the Dean's List. He then focused on a specialized degree in Honors Violin Performance. Always a learner of life, he later won a grant scholarship to attend and receive the first ever management-level Biofuels Science Technician Management Certificate through the EDGE Program at UC San Diego. After this extensive and intensive training he was able to get his first start-up experience through a biotech firm that he co-founded, which centered around a multi-tiered platform for creating nutraceuticals, biofuels, and biomass or protein from algae.
Next, Adam got the chance of a lifetime to work as a Membership Sales Specialist for NAMM, the National Association of Music Merchants. He helped put on The NAMM Show, the world's largest music products trade show that hosts almost 100,000 attendees. The industry experience was unfathomably deep and cut a varied swath across the entire music industry and related industries, including tech companies, skilled artisans, distributors, and retailers large and small. As he built business relationships with musical folk from all over the world, he furthered his understanding of what makes us connected - music. MUSIC IS LIFE.
The Future is Bright with Promise
He is currently accepting violin students in the Apex, North Carolina area. He is also available for online lessons.
Gigs local and abroad (Apex, Cary, Holly Springs, Raleigh/Durham [RDU], San Diego area, and beyond!).
Recordings available in-person or online.
In a world that is going light speed, Adam is known for expeditiously honest service in an old world craft.
